Enterprise Crude Pipeline’s North Loop Project
West Texas
On behalf of and Edge Engineering & Science, LLC, HRA Gray & Pape, LLC completed cultural resources surveys for Enterprise Crude Pipeline, LLC's new North Loop crude pipeline system in the Southern High Plains Region of west Texas. The project area included portions of Andrews, Ector, Martin, and Midland Counties, Texas.
A total of 67 miles within a 200-foot wide survey corridor totaling 1,650 acres were surveyed at an average pace of over four miles per day. Due to excellent ground visibility between 50-100% at all locations and a lack of Holocene alluvium, only judgmental shovel tests were excavated. A series of prehistoric lithic surface scatters and historic surface scatters were recorded during survey of the pipeline route. None of the new sites was considered significant as none exhibited unique qualities or otherwise had the potential to contribute new information to the current body of knowledge surrounding Texas archaeology.
Within two weeks of completing multiple survey mobilizations, HRA Gray & Pape, LLC provided a full technical report of investigations to Edge and Enterprise, while also formally recording sites that were identified during survey at an official Texas state archaeological repository. With support from HRA Gray & Pape, Enterprise met its targeted project construction date.
