HRA Gray & Pape, LLC., a national Cultural Resources Management consulting firm, has an opening in its Houston office for an Archaeological Principal Investigator. This is a full-time, salaried position offering a full benefits package. Salary determined based on experience. The successful candidate will have a Masters or PhD, plus 2 years prior experience supervising CRM projects at the Principal Investigator level. Experience in conducting work in the Southeast U.S. is essential (northeast and/or southeast Texas preferred). Demonstrated experience with the application of appropriate State and Federal legislation, regulations, documents and procedures is required, particularly Section 106 and those related to DOT projects (TxDOT preferred).

Job duties will include the following:

1. Function as a Principal Investigator when appropriate for the project and the client requirements.
2. Conduct appropriate research to professional standards with minimal supervision.
3. Responsible to prepare, track and meet project budgets and schedules for those portions of projects that this position has operational responsibility for.
4. Supervise field/research crews at the survey, eligibility testing,
and data recovery project level.
5. Analyze data and prepare reports to professional standards.
6. May perform duties on multiple simultaneous projects.
7. Occasional duties and responsibilities for contact with client and/or prospective clients for specific research/proposal tasks.
8. Participate in proposal preparation.
9. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of research data gathered.
10. Travel as needed to perform project and/or company related tasks as deemed necessary.
11. Participate in the preparation and/or editing of research reports.
12. Prepare, enter, and use research data in computerized data bases.
13. Responsible for occasional training of other HRA Gray & Pape
personnel in Company research and reporting procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to those listed above, the successful candidate will possess the following skills: Ability to supervise, coordinate, and/or provide direction to members of a project team or field crew. Writing and data analysis skills sufficient to produce high quality final reports. Ability to utilize research facilities to lead and/or conduct research activities. Ability to effectively lead and/or conduct field work using appropriate techniques. Interpersonal skills needed to lead and/or function within a project team and to work closely with a project manager. Communications skills needed to lead and/or participate in the preparation and organization of information to be included in research reports. Proficient in the use of computer word processor and data base system for the entry of written reports and research data (some familiarity with Arcview software a plus).
